He was awarded the prestigious H H Bloomer Award 2021 from The Linnean Society of London for his work communicating the biological sciences to the masses. He is a proud Ambassador for Leica Birding, London Wildlife Trust, Birding For All, and is involved in many other nature conservation and wildlife organisations. Claire McElfatrick's gorgeous illustrations can be seen in the previous DK titles in this series, The Magic and Mystery of Trees, The Book of Brilliant Bugs, and Earth's Incredible Oceans.
