The illustrations aid comprehension, particularly for younger learners, by providing visual cues that assist with language retention and recalling spoken and written words.
This book features 68 fully illustrated pages in a large format (265 x 366mm), enriched with vibrant full colour illustrations. It includes over 1000 te reo Māori words, each translated into English, and is embedded with charming illustrations of Kuwi the kiwi and friends.
Designed for everyday use in the whānau (family), kura (school), and for all New Zealanders, Kuwi & Friends Maori Picture Dictionary is suitable for ages 0-100+.
A portion of each sale goes to the charity Kiwis for kiwi.

About the Author
Kat Quin is a best-selling and award-winning author, illustrator and designer from the Waikato, where she lives with her partner and their six children. The Kuwi and Friends Maori Picture Dictionary was inspired by her children, who have been passionately learning te reo Maori at school. Her hope is that this book will provide an accessible and practical way to help whanau (family members) feel confident to use more Maori words in the home. Kat first worked with Pania Papa at the age of eighteen, when she was entrusted with the illustration of Maori language resources for Te Ara Reo Maori, developed by Takatu Associates Ltd. Almost twenty years later, they still work closely together on various educational projects.
