Escaping Peril (Wings of Fire #8)

Escaping Peril (Wings of Fire #8) centres around the character Peril, who has been fiercely loyal to Queen Scarlet, using her lethal firescales to eliminate numerous dragons in the SkyWing arena. Her allegiance has since shifted to Clay, the only dragonet who has shown her friendship.

With Scarlet threatening Jade Mountain Academy, Peril embarks on a mission to seek out her former queen, determined to thwart her plans and protect the academy at all costs. However, this journey is complicated by the unexpected accompaniment of a persistently insistent SeaWing named Turtle. Concerned about his own friends who set out ahead to confront Scarlet and have not yet returned, Turtle insists on joining Peril.

Peril struggles with the fear that she might inadvertently—or deliberately, out of frustration—incinerate Turtle, as she grapples with her volatile nature and bothersome tendency to misspeak or misstep. Bound by her infernal firescales and haunted by her reputation as the most dangerous dragon in Pyrrhia, she finds herself at a crossroad when presented with an opportunity to transform her life for a fresh start.

Faced with this pivotal choice, Peril must determine her true loyalties and reflect on whether her own identity and scales are indeed worth preserving.
