Description

The true story of Neil, the Great Dixter Cat, who escapes being a stray in war-torn Kabul, Afghanistan, to live in one of the greatest curated wild gardens in the world, The Great Dixter Garden in England. Written by Honey Moga, a mother of nine, this historic tale of a delightful female cat named for the courage she exhibited (Neil means 'champion' in Irish), this story also includes a fascinating history of the region. Moga spent the final days of her life enchanted by a cat she never met who lived thousands of miles away. Writing and publishing Neil's story was her final wish.

This magnificently illustrated true story takes readers on a journey with a delightful stray cat in Kabul, Afghanistan, through the history of the moguls, madmen and conquerors in the region to the loving men who rescued her and brought her to live out her days in the most beautiful wild garden in the world -- the Great Dixter Garden. Honey Moga, the author, plays a role in the story and her introduction is also fully illustrated, including her dream of being an author after her husband walks out and leaves her alone with nine children. Inspiring, uplifting and true, this is a unique history and a beautifully illustrated depiction of the magical garden where the courageous cat Neil now resides happily.
