The meticulous Dr. Drake assigns Latin names to various dragon species, ruminates on why dragons are able to speak, speculates on how they could fly, and explains the true purpose of their notorious hoarding habits. It includes a host of novelties, such as old letters, magic dust and dragon scales.
In his afterword, Dr. Drake reveals that one of the crucial goals of dragonologists is to preserve and protect the magnificent creatures of their study wherever possible - a goal this lavishly illustrated volume most affectionately achieves.

About the Author
Dugald Steer (Author)
Dugald Steer was born in 1965 and grew up in Surrey, where his love of books led him to study English Literature and Philosophy at Bristol. Several jobs later Dugald began working at Templar Publishing, where he worked his way up to Senior Editor, writing and editing many books in house. He has written more than 100 books for Templar, including 11 titles in their hugely successful 'Ology series. Dugald lives near Barcelona in Spain with his wife Ana and his two children.
Wayne Anderson (Illustrator)
Wayne Andersen has been illustrating in his colour pencil style for over 40 years and is renowned for his playful imagination and fantastic imagery. His titles for Templar include contributing illustrations to the worldwide best-seller Dragonology.
Helen Ward (Illustrator)
Helen Ward trained at Brighton School of Art, under the direction of well-known children's illustrators such as Raymond Briggs, Justin Todd and Chris McEwan. In her final year at Brighton, Helen was awarded the first Walker Prize for Children's Illustration. Awards for Helen's work include The National Art Library Award for The Tin Forest, and, in 2003, the The Cockerel and the Fox was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Award. Helen lives in Stroud, Gloucestershire.
