Commonly referred to as the Northern Palace, Gyeongbok Palace was constructed in 1395 at the heart of Seoul, which was the newly-appointed capital city at the time. It is the first and largest of Korea's Five Grand Palaces, built during the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1910), and remains one of Korea's top sights.
